Hyundai is shifting the Elantra into midsize cabin space to pair larger packaging with software‑defined features.

Overview

  • Hyundai unveiled the eighth‑generation Elantra, called the Avante in Korea, in a public reveal at the Busan show with a full exterior and interior redesign that increases length, width and wheelbase.
  • The sedan now measures 4,765 mm long and 1,855 mm wide with a 2,750 mm wheelbase to deliver noticeably more passenger and cargo room than the prior generation.
  • Powertrain choices include a retained 2.0‑litre naturally aspirated petrol with about 149 hp paired to a CVT and an updated 1.6‑litre self‑charging hybrid rated near 155–157 hp with upgraded battery, motor and transmission systems.
  • The cabin centers on Hyundai’s Pleos Connect software running on a large 14.6‑inch display, reported generative‑AI voice assistance, OTA updates and premium touches such as Bang & Olufsen audio and dual wireless charging.
  • Hyundai says Korea ordering will open in Q3 2026 with a staged global rollout through 2027, while final pricing, complete trim lists and full technical details of the AI features remain to be confirmed.
