Hyundai Repositions i20 as Taller, Connected Model

Built in Brazil on the K3 platform, the fourth‑generation i20’s SUV‑like design enables future hybrid or turbo powertrains.

Overview

  • Hyundai unveiled the fourth‑generation i20 in Brazil in mid‑June as a taller, SUV‑inspired hatch that is 55mm longer and 55mm taller than the outgoing model and offers a larger boot.
  • The new i20 sits on the Hyundai Motor Group K3 platform, the same architecture used by the Kona, which increases structural rigidity and allows the model to accept turbocharged or electrified powertrains in future versions.
  • Hyundai Motor Brasil will build the model at its Piracicaba plant and for the first time offer over‑the‑air software updates and Bluelink connected services as standard on Brazilian‑built Hyundai vehicles.
  • Production of the current i20 N ended in March 2026 and Hyundai Australia has announced a limited 100‑unit i20 N Shadow Edition as a cosmetic farewell priced from AU$41,500 with no mechanical changes to the 1.6‑litre turbo powertrain.
  • Hyundai has not yet confirmed timing or exact specifications for Europe, Australia or other markets for the new i20 and has signalled the i20 N nameplate could return in future with hybrid or revised powertrains depending on regional rules and sourcing.
