Overview
- Hyundai Motor India introduced the BaaS option for the Creta Electric on Thursday, reducing the ex-showroom entry price to Rs 10.99 lakh and charging battery usage from Rs 3.90 per kilometre.
- The Creta's mechanical specifications are unchanged and it remains available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh packs, claimed ranges of about 420 km and 510 km, a single front motor, and DC fast charging (10–80% in about 39 minutes).
- Hyundai added an integrated side foot step and will supply a 7.4 kW single-phase wall‑box with Home Charger (HC) variants to ease home charging for many buyers.
- The BaaS move makes Hyundai the latest of several automakers in India to separate battery ownership from the vehicle, a model that lowers upfront cost but makes monthly outlays depend on kilometres driven and subscription terms.
- Hyundai said it will expand public fast chargers toward roughly 600 stations over seven years, a push that could affect total ownership convenience as rival brands roll out their own BaaS plans and competing EV models.
