Overview
- Players must place a Workbench (4 tree trunks and 3 stone) before crafting a Furnace (6 trunks and 6 stone), which uses wood as fuel and features fuel, input, and output slots.
- Copper is most common in caves across Zone 1 and Zone 2, typically between Y-levels 35–100, and smelts into ingots that unlock early tool upgrades.
- Iron spawns deeper and rarer, roughly 50–100 blocks below the surface in cave systems, and must be smelted into ingots before crafting gear.
- Smelting produces charcoal as a byproduct that can be reused as fuel, and guides note you can queue multiple ore stacks for more efficient processing.
- Hytale includes eight specialized workbenches such as the Armorer’s Workbench and Blacksmith’s Anvil, though some reported main Workbench upgrade costs remain less widely confirmed.
