Overview
- After an initial broadcast in Seine-et-Marne on Monday, wider FR-Alert tests are scheduled Wednesday with time windows in Essonne (10:00–11:00), Seine-Saint-Denis (late morning to early afternoon), Val-de-Marne (around 11:30–12:00) and Paris’ Beaugrenelle (13:00–13:30).
- The alert will arrive as a loud notification that overrides silent mode, requires no installation, clearly states it is a test, and asks recipients not to contact emergency services.
- Authorities will attach a questionnaire to collect user feedback and assess the reach and performance of the alerting system.
- On-the-ground drills in Paris on Monday included a role-play evacuation of an apartment building with volunteers, civil protection and Red Cross support, and RATP installing flood barriers at a metro entrance.
- Officials frame the exercise against the risk of a centennial Seine flood, with impact estimates varying from about 630,000 people directly flooded to roughly one million affected depending on scenario.
