Hyderabad Steps Up Food-Adulteration Crackdown With New H-FAST Unit After Major Seizures

The police-led unit will trace adulteration to source units across the city.

Overview

  • Task Force teams with GHMC food-safety officials seized 3,892 kg of dairy products in Secunderabad and arrested six suspects, handing the case to Mahankali police.
  • The haul included 2,572 kg of paneer, 927 kg of kowa, 249 kg of white cream, 12 kg of ghee and 132 kg of kalakand, with items found unlabelled and stored in unhygienic conditions.
  • Police said the goods were sourced from unknown suppliers and sold in bulk to hotels and caterers at about ₹280 per kg, misrepresented as quality paneer.
  • In a separate case, Kulsumpura police arrested two men in Jiyaguda and seized 72 drums of pickles and related pastes from an alleged adulteration unit.
  • Officials detailed H-FAST’s supply-chain focus, warned of licence cancellations and possible Preventive Detention for repeat offenders, and released a tip line at 8712661212; a reported ginger-garlic paste raid netting 1,155 kg was carried by one outlet.
