- The Hyderabad City Police issued the advisory Sunday after the ₹10,000 earnest money deposit payment window for the Indiramma scheme opened.
- Commissioner V C Sajjanar listed common fraud methods including malicious APK files, lookalike websites, phishing WhatsApp or SMS links, impersonation calls and requests to install AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
- Police stressed the allotment process has no brokers or middlemen and said EMD payments are secure with refunds sent only to the applicant’s original bank account if no house is allotted.
- Applicants were told not to click unknown links, share Aadhaar, bank details or OTPs, or reveal UPI PINs for refunds, because installing unknown apps or granting screen access can let criminals empty accounts.
- For help or to report fraud, authorities gave a scheme helpline at 040-24603572, the national cybercrime helpline 1930 and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to seek rapid action and fund freezing.
