Overview
- Police and civic teams seized about 12 tonnes of rotten sheep and goat offal from A to Z Mutton Offals in Hyderabad during a coordinated raid.
- Officers said the store manager was arrested and confessed to buying stale offal at low cost and storing it for long periods before sale.
- The owner, Md Afroz, is on the run after an earlier March 10 raid at the same outlet, and special teams are working to trace him.
- Investigators say the meat was kept in deep freezers and tubs of stagnant water to hide foul smells, then sold to hotels, caterers and events as fresh.
- Samples have gone to the Forensic Science Laboratory and a case under BNS Sections 125, 271, 318(2) and 112 has been filed, with officials valuing the seizure at over Rs 10 lakh.
