Overview
- Police opened a cheating case in December 2023 against Dhanwantari Foundation International and its director for allegedly collecting about ₹516 crore from more than 2,000 investors by promising high returns.
- Investigators identified properties said to be bought with scheme proceeds, including nearly 450 acres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and about 3,000 square yards of commercial space in Hyderabad.
- The government issued eight ad‑interim attachment orders for those properties, a sessions court later made the attachments absolute, and the Telangana High Court dismissed DFI’s appeals.
- Hyderabad Police on Wednesday urged any depositors who have not yet filed their investment details with the Central Crime Station to come forward so the competent authority can prepare the official depositor list under the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act.
- Once the depositor list is finalised the attached properties can be auctioned and sale proceeds distributed to verified claimants, a step that will determine how and when victims receive refunds and could trigger sale proceedings for large land and commercial holdings.
