Hyderabad Police Roll Out Security and Traffic Plan for IPL Matches at Uppal

Officials target safer games plus lighter congestion through surveillance upgrades, strict screening, route controls.

  • Authorities confirmed preparations for IPL fixtures at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on April 5 and May 22 with a coordinated security and traffic plan.
  • Nearly 2,000 police personnel will be on duty with bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, mounted units, four fire tenders, and a joint command room watching more than 430 CCTV cameras in real time.
  • Gate No. 1 is reserved for players, spectators must enter through ticketed gates, and banned items include laptops, bags, water bottles, cameras, cigarettes, lighters, and outside food.
  • Traffic police will divert heavy vehicles around Uppal, expect congestion from Nagole to Habsiguda and Boduppal to Amberpet on match days, and urge fans to use RTC buses and Metro services.
  • Gates open three hours before play with no cloakroom, extra SHE Teams and anti-harassment squads will patrol, ambulances rise to five, vendor checks are in place, and digital ticketing is slated to start from April 13.
