Hyderabad Police Carry Out Midnight Sweep of 562 Hotels and Lodges

Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the sweep aims to stop misuse of transient accommodations, with orders for CCTV upgrades and a planned Digital Visitor Management System.

Overview

  • Police inspected 562 hotels and lodges across all seven commissionerate zones during a midnight operation that ran between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. on Friday.
  • About 5,000 police personnel took part in the coordinated exercise, which senior IPS officers, DCPs, ACPs and specialised units supported.
  • Commissioner Sajjanar personally supervised checks at lodges near Nampally Railway Station and Ameerpet and questioned guests while teams scrutinised registers and room-allotment procedures.
  • Authorities ordered establishments to physically verify original identity documents, retain clear photocopies, maintain complete guest records, refuse rooms to minors without age proof, and install high-definition CCTV cameras.
  • Police warned of strict legal action for non-compliance, urged staff and citizens to report suspicious activity via Dial 100, and said a Digital Visitor Management System will be rolled out as a follow-up to improve monitoring.
