Hyderabad Police Book Telugu Actor Ashu Reddy in ₹9.35 Crore Cheating Case

Investigators are reviewing years of alleged transfers tied to a promised marriage.

Overview

  • Hyderabad’s Central Crime Station, which registered the case Sunday, named Ashu Reddy along with her father Venkata Krishna Koyya, mother Yashoda Reddy, and sister Venkata Divya Reddy, and police said the probe is ongoing.
  • The complaint was filed by Yenumula Satyanarayana Murthy on behalf of his UK-based son Y.V. Dharmendra, who says he was cheated on the promise of marriage for about ₹9.35 crore.
  • The filing alleges that from 2018 to 2025 Dharmendra funded cars, nearly five kilograms of gold, and multiple flats that were often registered in Reddy’s name, and that her sister also took ₹50 lakh.
  • The timeline in the complaint describes a failed push to marry in July 2020, a mediated plan to repay ₹70 lakh, a resumed relationship later that year, and a final break in 2025 that led to the police case.
  • Reddy has denied the accusations and warned she will sue over false reports, and police stressed that an FIR only opens an inquiry and does not establish guilt.
