Hyderabad Police Arrest Five in Jubilee Hills Heist, Hunt Three Suspected Masterminds

Police say the crew infiltrated the home via a planted helper, using sedatives on staff before fleeing with jewellery.

While five people have been arrested in connection with the case, two others, including the alleged mastermind, are absconding.

  • The February 5 burglary at a Nandagiri Hills residence netted gold and diamond jewellery valued at about ₹1.3 crore while the owners were away.
  • Those arrested are Ramesh Bahadur Chand, Janak Kumar Bikram Shahi, Lalit Bahadur Chand, Madan Khatri and Bohara Susil, taken into custody by Jubilee Hills police with east and north zone task force support.
  • Investigators recovered stolen jewellery, mobile phones and motorcycles from the arrested suspects.
  • A manhunt is underway for alleged planners Jeevan alias Jiban Bahadur Chand, Bhuvan alias Bhupender Shahi and Debi Kadel alias Bimla.
  • Police describe the group as Nepali-linked with escape efforts toward Nepal, and say a Nepal-based woman suspected of orchestrating the crimes is reported to be in custody according to police.
