Hyderabad Cybercrime Drive Nets 20 Arrests, Rs 1.59 Crore Returned

  • Hyderabad cybercrime police ran special operations in March 2026 that led to 20 arrests across five states in 13 cases.
  • Digital patrols flagged 129 Facebook and Instagram profiles running 494 paid ads for gaming and betting apps, which the platforms removed after police reports.
  • Investigators returned Rs 1.59 crore to victims and seized Rs 6.50 lakh in cash along with 14 phones, four laptops, nine cheque books and two company stamps.
  • The frauds included investment, trading, social media, credit card, impersonation, gaming, matrimonial and job schemes, with 15 arrests in Telangana and the rest in Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan and Kerala.
  • Victim support ramped up as the C-Mitra team made 1,730 calls and filed 262 zero FIRs, a process that lets any police station register a complaint to speed action.
