Hyderabad ATM Shooting: Police Pursue Inter-State Trail in Rs 6 Lakh Robbery

Police point to a possible Uttar Pradesh link after launching interstate teams and extensive CCTV checks.

Overview

  • Two men shot 26-year-old cloth merchant Rinshad P.V. in the leg and took Rs 6 lakh as he tried to deposit cash at the SBI main-branch ATM in Koti around 7 a.m. on January 31.
  • The assailants threatened him with a firearm, fired two rounds, fled on his two-wheeler, then abandoned it in Kachiguda after changing clothes before escaping on foot.
  • An FIR was registered at Sultan Bazar police station under BNS attempt-to-murder and robbery provisions and the Arms Act, and at least six special teams, including task force units, are on the case.
  • Investigators are examining an inter-state angle with suspects believed to be from Uttar Pradesh, tracking movements across districts and coordinating with neighboring jurisdictions.
  • Doctors removed the bullet in a minor procedure and say the victim is stable, while police have detained some people for questioning but have not announced any arrests or identifications.
