Hyderabad Airport Says Three Flight Bomb Threats Were Hoaxes After Safe Landings

Investigators are pursuing the source of repeated hoax threats that have kept Hyderabad’s airport on high alert.

Overview

  • Emails sent late Dec 7 and early Dec 8 targeted IndiGo 6E 7178 from Kannur, Lufthansa LH 752 from Frankfurt, and British Airways BA 277 from Heathrow.
  • All three aircraft landed in Hyderabad without incident, with arrivals at about 10:50 pm, 2:00 am, and 5:30 am, respectively.
  • Airport teams executed established procedures, including moving aircraft to isolation bays, screening passengers and baggage, deploying sniffer dogs, and staging fire services.
  • Police reported nothing suspicious was found and said the latest threats were hoaxes, as cases continue to be registered and probed jointly with CISF.
  • The alerts extend a week of frequent hoax messages that have triggered diversions in some earlier cases, and they coincide with IndiGo’s large-scale disruptions under DGCA scrutiny.
