Husband and Bihar Contract Killer Arrested in Murder-for-Hire of Hyderabad Woman

Police say the husband paid a Bihar gang ₹2 lakh to arrange the killing, exposing a cross‑state conspiracy with two suspects still at large.

Overview

  • The 36-year-old victim, Mina Devi, was found murdered on the outskirts of Gandigudam village on May 30, and Cyberabad investigators on June 10 arrested her husband, Anil Kumar Sah, and a contracted killer, Ranjan.
  • Police say Anil initially filed a false abduction and sexual assault account and staged superficial injuries to mislead investigators before admitting he hired killers for ₹2 lakh.
  • Investigators allege Anil recruited Bihar-based gang leader Rinku Kumar, who sent Ranjan and another associate, Neeraj, to Hyderabad after meeting Anil on May 29 to plan the murder.
  • After the killing the accused abandoned a stolen motorcycle on the city outskirts and fled to Bihar by private bus, and police have taken Ranjan to Hyderabad on a transit warrant while searching for Rinku and Neeraj.
  • Authorities say Rinku and Neeraj have prior criminal records in Bihar and other states, forensic and evidentiary work is continuing, and prosecutors are moving to file formal murder and conspiracy charges.
