Hungaroring Names Every Turn, Honours Seven F1 Legends

Formalising fan-chosen corner names with permanent tributes embeds the circuit's racing history on site.

Overview

  • Track officials published the full list of names on July 24, 2026, assigning official names to all 14 turns after a 2025 fan vote was reviewed by a specialist committee.
  • Seven turns were named for drivers with clear ties to the venue, including Nelson Piquet at Turn 1 and Lewis Hamilton at Turn 2, recognising on-track moments and records linked to those corners.
  • The remaining corners carry local names that reference nearby places and features, such as Spring for the Valley of the Three Springs, Mogyoród, Buda and Pest, Driving Centre and Danube.
  • Lewis Hamilton, Nigel Mansell and Jean Alesi will have their handprints cast in concrete and permanently installed in the Hungaroring run-off area as part of the anniversary commemoration.
  • The naming completes a two-stage process of fan engagement followed by expert vetting and may encourage other circuits to formalise heritage through public input and site-based memorials.
