Overview
- Flames broke out shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Les Grandes Alpes hotel in Courchevel and continued burning into Wednesday.
- The blaze extended to the neighboring five-star Hotel Lana overnight, and authorities said the fire was not yet under control Wednesday morning.
- Roughly 270 people were evacuated in total, including 83 from Les Grandes Alpes and about 190 from the Hotel Lana, with no guests reported missing.
- About 150 firefighters are battling the fire; four were lightly injured as crews worked through 50 centimeters to one meter of rooftop snow and removed stone and metal roofing to reach hotspots.
