Hudson River Park Trust Will End ICE Parking Deal at Pier 40 in June 2026

The park operator says it will let the current five-year agreement lapse following public scrutiny over federal spending for secure parking at Pier 40.

Overview

  • The Trust confirmed it will not renew its ICE parking contract, which began in July 2021 and runs through June 30, 2026, and said it does not plan to enter new ICE agreements.
  • Public records show DHS paid about $169,035.79 in 2025 for secure parking at Pier 40, while a FOIA-released copy lists the contract at $150,000 per year.
  • The Trust says the arrangement is limited to parking and that it has no role in enforcement activities.
  • ICE has used Pier 40 for vehicle parking for at least two decades, though the number of spaces in the current deal is redacted and undisclosed.
  • The contract drew renewed attention after Sludge published an ICE contractor map, Hell Gate raised questions with the Trust, and THE CITY obtained the contract via FOIA and documented ICE vans at the garage.
