Huawei Launches Nova 16 Series in China With 7,000mAh Batteries

The new four‑model line underscores Huawei’s push for very large batteries, in‑house Kirin chips, and China‑only connectivity such as BeiDou satellite messaging.

Overview

  • Huawei unveiled the nova 16 family in China on Monday, June 1, 2026, published China pricing on its store, and said shipments for some trims will begin on June 6.
  • The nova 16, nova 16 Pro and nova 16 Ultra ship with 7,000mAh batteries and 100W wired charging while the nova 16z uses a 6,000mAh cell with the same 100W wired rate.
  • Huawei fitted the Pro and Ultra with a 200MP RYYB main sensor with OIS and high‑resolution RYYB periscope telephotos, while the standard models retain 50MP main cameras.
  • The Ultra is the only model to offer 50W wireless charging, 7.5W reverse wireless charging, and higher ingress protection (IP68/IP69), with the Pro and vanilla nova 16 rated IP65.
  • The Pro and Ultra run Huawei’s Kirin 9010S and ship with HarmonyOS 6.1 while the 16z uses Kirin 8020, and multiple nova 16 models add BeiDou satellite messaging for text and photo messages in remote or emergency situations in China.
