Overview
- HSBC announced on Monday, July 27, that it will launch the centre in Singapore in the second half of 2026 and recruit more than 100 AI specialists to staff the unit.
- Chief AI Officer David Rice will lead the new centre, which will initially focus on personalising wealth-management conversations, creating agentic treasury tools for corporates, and expanding AI-enabled digital payments.
- The bank also plans to hire about 100 additional wealth relationship managers in Singapore to deepen its local private and premier banking coverage.
- The centre will work with Google Cloud and local universities and government bodies to train talent across natural language processing, data science, AI governance and human-centred design.
- HSBC frames the move as part of a wider technology push that follows a recent Google Cloud deal and earlier investments in tokenised deposits and quantum research and aims to scale Singapore-built solutions across its global network while retraining staff for AI-driven change.
