Hoy No Circula Uses Second‑Saturday Rules Across Mexico City Area on March 14

Acceptable air quality kept the program on its standard second‑Saturday schedule without contingency restrictions.

Overview

  • The restriction runs from 5:00 to 22:00 and applies to hologram 1 vehicles with even plate endings (0, 2, 4, 6, 8), all hologram 2 cars, and foreign‑plated vehicles.
  • Authorities reported air quality as acceptable with PM2.5 present, so no Phase 1 contingency or Doble Hoy No Circula was activated.
  • The program covers Mexico City’s 16 boroughs and 18 conurbated municipalities in the State of Mexico, and since January 1 also includes the Toluca and Santiago Tianguistenco metropolitan zones.
  • Vehicles exempt from the restriction include those with holograms 00 and 0, electric and hybrid cars, taxis, motorcycles, public transport, heavy cargo units, and authorized health personnel vehicles.
  • Noncompliance can lead to fines of 20 to 30 UMA, equivalent to about 2,346 to 3,519 pesos at current rates.
