Overview
- The Comisión Ambiental de la Megalópolis confirmed there is no ozone contingency so the Hoy No Circula program is running on its ordinary rotation.
- On Wednesday drivers of vehicles with hologram 1 or 2 whose plates end in 3 or 4 must not circulate between 05:00 and 22:00 under the official calendar.
- Vehicles with hologram 00 or 0, electric and certain hybrid cars, public-transport and emergency vehicles, motorcycles and cars with disability plates are exempt from the daily restriction.
- Traffic and transit authorities are enforcing the rule with fines of 20–30 UMA (about 2,346–3,519 MXN in 2026) and possible impoundment under Estado de México rules for repeat or serious violations.
- Air-quality monitors use the IMECA index and officials say surpassing 150 points would trigger Phase 1 contingency and wider limits while a 200-plus reading would raise the alert to Phase 2, prompting expanded restrictions and increased reliance on Metro, Metrobús and ECOBICI.
