How Stealing Works in Crimson Desert: Masks, Detection, and Consequences

Player guides fill the gap the game leaves by explaining the mask prerequisite for theft.

Overview

  • You cannot steal unless a mask is equipped, with quick toggling available via the equipment radial (D‑Pad Left or F2).
  • Masks are obtainable by buying one at Hernand’s Back Alley Shop, completing the Jeffrey bounty, or looting Bleed Bandits around the city.
  • Stealing triggers a visible red suspicion zone and a short timer; being seen can lead to reports, regional reputation loss, and a bounty.
  • If guards intervene you may be fined or arrested and sent to a Guard Station after a brief jail sequence, with harsher penalties if you resist.
  • Wearing a mask in public can raise NPC suspicion, and some puzzle strongboxes and rewards effectively require stealing to claim.
