Houston Art Car Parade Returns Saturday With 250+ Entries and ABC13 Livestream

VIP seating supports the Orange Show’s year-round arts programs.

Overview

  • The 39th parade, organized by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art, rolls through downtown at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11 as the centerpiece of a free festival running April 9–12.
  • The route starts at Dallas and Bagby on Allen Parkway, loops City Hall, then heads toward Waugh, and the show runs about two hours.
  • More than 250 rolling artworks are entered from 23 states plus Canada and Mexico, and ABC13 will stream the parade live from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Former Dynamo star Brian Ching and singer Kam Franklin serve as grand marshals, with Houston artist Phillip Pyle II named the featured artist.
  • Westbury High School’s team built Renaissance on Wheels from a donated 2009 Subaru, with nearly 200 students crafting bead, button, and penny sculptures inspired by Renaissance art.
