Honda Sets Japan Super-ONE Pre-Orders as Sub-£20,000 Super-N Reaches UK in July

Honda is betting a lighter, cheaper urban EV that uses boost with simulated shifts will win price‑sensitive buyers.

Overview

  • Honda will accept Super-ONE pre-orders in Japan on Thursday, April 16, with sales starting in late May, marking the move from prototype to market launch.
  • In Europe the car will be sold as the Super-N, with UK sales confirmed for July and a starting price under £20,000, according to Honda UK.
  • Honda limited battery size to cut weight and cost, resulting in a curb weight around 1,090 kg and a rated 274 km range on Japan’s test cycle, a trade-off the company says improves affordability.
  • Boost Mode raises output from 47 kW to 70 kW and works with a simulated seven-speed transmission and Active Sound Control to mimic gearshifts and engine noise for a more engaging drive.
  • For Europe, Honda quotes up to 199 miles of urban range and about 128 miles combined under WLTP, with an eight-speaker Bose audio system fitted as standard.
