Overview
- HRC announced the HRC Heritage Racing Programme Wednesday and is offering factory-restored Honda and Acura race cars for sale with the #26 Andretti Green Acura ARX-01a from the 2007 Sebring LMP2 win named as the first car available.
- Restorations follow original homologation papers and engineers’ notes, with full teardowns, new or reconditioned parts, engine rebuilds performed at HRC’s Santa Clarita facility, and modernized electronics and safety materials as needed.
- HRC is track-testing completed cars and will make its engineers available for trackside support and competition guidance to buyers so restored cars arrive in race-ready, usable condition.
- The programme debuted at Monterey Car Week with multiple restored winners on public display and running at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, including a 2010 Le Mans LMP2 winner, an NSX GT3 chassis, four ARX-05 DPi prototypes, and a 2001 Reynard Champ Car.
- HRC has not disclosed prices or how it will select buyers, but it says the programme will expand to include more historic Honda-powered IndyCar machinery and related aftermarket and merchandise offerings, a move that could create a new revenue stream and keep factory cars active in historic racing.
