Homeowner Kills Intruder on South Side as Separate Overnight Attacks Leave Two More Dead

Police are investigating three separate overnight killings across Chicago.

  • Hours earlier in South Austin, officers found a 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head near a business on the 5100 block of West Chicago Avenue, and he later died at Mount Sinai Hospital.
  • No arrests were announced in the South Austin case as Harrison Area detectives probe the shooting, while Area Two detectives are handling the home-invasion investigation.
  • In a third case in Brainerd, police say a 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a fight inside a home on the 9200 block of South Green Street, a knife was recovered, and the suspect fled in a white sedan.
