Holiday World to Add $22 Million ‘Cannonball!’ Water Roller Coaster

Construction is underway for a ride the park calls the Midwest’s first water roller coaster, billed as the nation’s fastest and tallest with a targeted May 2027 opening.

Overview

  • Holiday World announced Cannonball! as a $22 million investment that the park says is its largest single-attraction project and will anchor its Fourth of July–themed land.
  • The park released technical specs that include a 90-foot lift, a 75-foot drop, more than 1,000 feet of track and a top speed of 45 mph, ending in a dramatic splashdown.
  • Riders will board one of seven novelty inner-tube style boats and pass themed vignettes set in the fictional Boulder Canyon community pool before the final plunge.
  • The ride is being built by Mack Rides of Germany, uses the same model family as SeaWorld’s Journey to Atlantis attractions, and Holiday World says it will be the third water roller coaster in the U.S.
  • Holiday World says construction is underway for a May 2027 opening, 2027 Platinum Season Passholders will get early-entry access in June and July, and the new attraction is meant to boost regional family visitation around America’s 250th celebrations.
