Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar Line 3 To Open In Two Phases In May and July, Maharashtra CM Says

The staged rollout targets quicker relief for IT commuters on the nearly complete corridor linking Pune’s tech hub with the city centre.

Overview

  • Officials report the 23 km elevated corridor is about 94% complete, with trial runs underway and station finishing and safety clearances in progress.
  • The first stretch from Hinjewadi to Balewadi, covering roughly 11–12 km with 12 stations, is slated to start service in May.
  • The remaining section from Balewadi to Shivajinagar, about 11–12 km with 11 stations, is scheduled to open by July.
  • Once this line begins operations, authorities say Pune’s functional metro network will reach roughly 55 km as part of a longer-term push toward a 200 km system.
  • The project is being implemented by PMRDA through PPP SPV Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, with execution by a Tata GroupSiemens-led consortium, after earlier deadlines slipped from March 2025 to March 2026 and drew commuter criticism.
