Overview
- Hilton confirmed on Wednesday that it will rebrand Hotel Gajoen in Meguro, Tokyo, as an LXR Hotels & Resorts property with a target launch by 2027.
- The company announced on Thursday that it has signed an agreement with THE SANKEI BUILDING Co., Ltd. and HASEKO Real Estate Development to manage a new LXR resort in Hakone Gora slated to open in summer 2028.
- Hotel Gajoen, which is owned by Brookfield and managed by Hilton, plans to resume rooms and restaurants in mid-2026 while completing phased enhancements ahead of the LXR relaunch.
- The rebranded Gajoen will be a small, ultra-luxury hotel of roughly 60 keys with suites over 100 square meters, five dining venues, a spa, fitness facilities and about 5,700 square meters of event space while preserving the Hyakudan Kaidan, a designated Tangible Cultural Property.
- Both properties will join the Hilton Honors programme and form part of a broader LXR pipeline in Japan that includes planned sites in Hiroshima and Niseko, a move that aims to draw high‑end and culture-focused travellers and boost regional luxury tourism.
