Overview
- The High Court granted the injunction on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, restraining Ryan Bridge, Ben Cullen, Trudy Wells and Kevin Good and unnamed others from attaching flags to lampposts, lighting columns or other highway structures.
- Oxfordshire County Council told the court the unauthorised flag placements created road-safety risks, amounted to trespass and highway obstruction, and caused fear and harassment in local communities.
- The named activists agreed in court not to put flags on Oxfordshire lampposts, not to encourage others to do so, and not to obstruct or harass council staff or contractors removing flags.
- The injunction also bars related acts such as painting flags on roads and ordering anyone who breaches the terms could face enforcement, after councils reported confrontations, abuse and thousands of pounds in removal costs.
- The campaign began last August with flags appearing across towns from Adderbury to Wallingford, and the July 9 hearing will allow anyone seeking to oppose or expand the court’s order to be heard.
