Overview

  • The hidden floating Siri icon was first posted on Reddit and confirmed by multiple tech outlets on Monday, July 20, 2026, and it appears when users select text in macOS 27 Golden Gate beta.
  • Testers who enable the private FeatureFlags toggle with sudo Terminal commands can make a small popover appear that expands to show Writing Tools such as Proofread, Rewrite with tone options, “How does this sound?,” and an Edit with Siri option.
  • The popover also offers context-aware quick actions tailored to the selected content, including creating calendar events, composing messages or email, adding contacts, opening locations in Maps, and tracking flights or packages.
  • Reporters and community testers say the feature is an early prototype with inconsistent timing, some nonresponsive actions, and visible bugs, and Apple has not enabled it by default or committed to including it in the final macOS 27 release.
