Hessenfest Draws Thousands to Berlin for State’s 80th Anniversary

A showcase for Hessian firms that gave political leaders a platform to stress unity.

Overview

  • Several thousand guests gathered at the Hessische Landesvertretung in Berlin for the traditional Hessenfest to mark Hessen’s 80th birthday, with food, wine and networking across the garden venue.
  • Hessen’s Ministerpräsident Boris Rhein framed the jubilee as a sign of cohesion, responsibility and the need to project confidence while working together on shared challenges.
  • About 100 Hessian companies, craft firms and institutions backed the event, with roughly half running stands that ranged from a startup presenting a planned laser-fusion project to DHL’s public display.
  • The evening featured regionally themed dishes and an anniversary Cuvée wine to promote local products, giving small producers and the state’s wineries visible exposure in the capital.
  • The Landesvertretung, opened in 2001 and acting like a state embassy in Berlin, used the fest to strengthen federal ties and offer informal access for officials and businesses to Berlin decision-makers.
