Overview
- Unfrozen Studio and publisher Hooded Horse said Thursday that Olden Era has sold more than 1 million copies since its 30 April early access launch and that the game recouped development costs within a day after selling roughly 250,000 copies on launch day.
- The studio published a multi-stage early access roadmap that schedules near-term updates in Q3 and Q4 2026 for hero-skill rebalances, Random Map Generator improvements, a teamplay (co-op vs AI) mode, matchmaking fixes, observer mode and replays.
- Larger features reserved for later stages and the full 1.0 release include an Underground map layer, a Thieves’ Guild, Ironman campaign mode, second and third campaign acts, custom map sharing and a teased PvE roguelike that Unfrozen says it will detail later.
- The game launched day one on PC Game Pass and on Steam and the Microsoft Store and has drawn strong player response, holding around 90% positive Steam reviews and prompting the developer to promise regular patches and community-driven changes.
- The rapid commercial success and co-publishing support from Hooded Horse and Ubisoft lower financial pressure on Unfrozen and make an iterative, feedback-driven early access plan possible, so watchers should look for balance patches and feature timing updates over the coming months.
