Overview
- Officers were called at about 6pm on 2 February after multiple packets of tobacco were reported stolen from a woman on Mansfield Road in South Normanton.
- The suspect ran toward woodland off Carnfield Hill and jumped a fence into a neighboring farm field.
- Eight llamas galloped over, formed a circle around the intruder, and sounded an alarm cry that alerted owners Heidi Price and Graham Oliver.
- Price’s partner guided the man back to the fence, where police arrested him at the edge of the field.
- The herd was rescued about a decade ago and now works in recognized therapy programs, and police have not announced any charges beyond the initial suspicion.
