Overview
- The hikers, women aged 22 and 27, called 1-1-2 at 14:25 on Monday reporting they could not descend due to ice and snow in Valdepiélago (León).
- The Junta de Castilla y León rescue helicopter deployed two technicians, including a nurse, who reached the pair via winch and short-rope maneuvers.
- Both women were evacuated uninjured and were set down in Rodillazo, in the municipality of Cármenes.
- Guardia Civil was notified and, by protocol, Cistierna firefighters were informed, while no Sacyl medical assistance was requested as the hikers reported no injuries.
- The operation followed a Sunday airlift in Corrales de Duero in which a 71-year-old hunter with an ankle injury was winched out and transferred via Peñafiel for hospital care.
