Overview
- Goran Radic was located about 2 kilometres south of Middle Beach around 8:30am Wednesday and flown to shore.
- SA Ambulance Service Special Operations landed on a sandbank, allowing him to walk to the helicopter and board safely.
- Police water units, Polair with infrared, Volunteer Marine Rescue and an SA Sea Rescue hovercraft searched overnight until about 3:30am before resuming at first light.
- Paramedics assessed him as in good health, and he thanked rescuers, saying he plans to kayak again with greater caution.
- Radic said he wore a life jacket but left his phone in his car, became disoriented while aiming for St Kilda, and police said his kayak will be recovered as they thanked the public for assistance.
