- HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai Robotics and Houston-based Persona AI signed a joint development and commercialization agreement.
- The signing took place at HD Hyundai’s Global R&D Center in Pangyo with executives Lee Dong-ju, Song Young-hoon and Persona AI CEO Nick Radford in attendance.
- Under the deal, KSOE will create AI-based welding training systems using shipyard field data for application to production workflows.
- HD Hyundai Robotics will handle system integration, including quality analysis, control technologies and on-site testing, while Persona AI will develop a bipedal platform for stable movement in complex shipyard environments.
- The program builds on a May 2025 memorandum of understanding and positive prototype evaluations, with partners planning gradual deployment to improve safety and productivity in future smart shipyards.
