Overview
- Haydock announced on Wednesday that it has cancelled or transferred the next four racedays while independent experts investigate a hole that opened on the outer course during racing last month.
- The June 20 meeting will run at Nottingham Racecourse with the Tom Grennan concert still taking place at Haydock, the July 2 card will move to Nottingham, and the July 4 Lancashire Oaks and Old Newton Cup card will move to Newmarket’s July Course.
- All ticket buyers for the cancelled Old Newton Cup meeting will receive automatic refunds and hospitality customers will be contacted directly by the racecourse team.
- Haydock is deploying ground-penetrating radar across the course and working with specialist contractors after early findings suggested a possible link to historic mining, with safety and remedial planning now the priority.
- The British Horseracing Authority has yet to confirm plans for the Friday, July 3 fixture and Haydock has promised a further update by the end of the month once surveys and remedial assessments are complete.
