Overview
- Total registered cases fell to 9,492 in January 2026 from 10,115 a year earlier, according to the official data release.
- Reported rape cases dropped 54.55% to 45, and cases under the SC/ST Act declined 32.91%, with robbery down 77% versus January 2025.
- Other categories also fell, including burglary by 31%, theft by 23%, snatching by 20%, grievous hurt by 45%, attempt to murder by 29% and murder by 15%.
- January operations included 17 encounters and 9,561 arrests, with 810 heinous offenders and 450 proclaimed offenders held, plus 191 Arms Act cases and 395 NDPS cases leading to 707 drug-trafficking arrests.
