India’s selection committee named Harsh Dubey to the one‑off Test and three‑match ODI squads for the home series against Afghanistan, a move publicised in late May.
Dubey rose through domestic cricket after taking a record 69 wickets in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy and has 133 first‑class wickets to his name.
He completed his first full IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, playing eight games and taking eight wickets with best figures of 3 for 12.
Selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, described Dubey as a future prospect while clarifying that Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the Test rather than dropped.
On arrival at the squad base Dubey said he is not aiming to replace any senior player, credited his parents for sacrifices that helped his rise, and urged youngsters to ‘don’t cheat your craft’ and give their work full commitment.
