Overview
- On Sunday the BCCI named a 15-player India squad for the Women's Asia Cup with Harmanpreet Kaur as captain and Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain.
- Prema Rawat retained her place after filling in for Shreyanka Patil, who has not recovered from an ankle ligament injury.
- Eighteen-year-old G Kamalini was selected as the second wicketkeeper while Yastika Bhatia was left out of the tournament squad.
- The Asia Cup is expected from late August to mid-September with fixtures not yet released, and it comes immediately before the Asian Games which runs 17–22 September in Japan; four senior Indians are currently playing in The Hundred in the UK which will affect immediate preparations.
- India remain the most successful side in Asia Cup history with seven titles and will aim to reclaim the trophy after losing it to Sri Lanka in 2024.
