Handala Claims Major Stryker Hack Tied to Minab Strike as Company Reports Network Disruption

A preliminary U.S. military review reported by the New York Times says outdated intelligence may have led to the Minab school strike that the hackers cite as motive.

Overview

  • Stryker confirmed a global disruption in its Microsoft environment, said it has seen no evidence of ransomware or other malware, and described the incident as under control.
  • Stryker instructed about 56,000 employees to disconnect and avoid powering on company devices, with reports of ordering, production, and shipping disruptions and a roughly 4% share drop.
  • Handala claimed it disabled more than 200,000 systems across 79 countries and stole or wiped large volumes of data, assertions that remain unverified and are being investigated.
  • Verifone was also named by Handala as a target, but the payments firm said it saw no outages and found no evidence of a successful attack.
  • Security researchers have suggested Handala may be a front for the group Void Manticore, which they link to Iran’s intelligence ministry, though formal attribution has not been established.
