Overview
- New figures released Saturday show Hamilton’s second day at Fiorano produced 461 km of running with a 1:00.470 best, bringing the two-day total to 884 km and 297 laps after Friday’s finish.
- The work targeted wet-tyre development as Hamilton ran prototype full-wet Cinturatos with a revised tread and then evaluated intermediates to map the crossover between the two compounds.
- Pirelli dictated the run plan in a blind format that kept data with the tyre maker, and Ferrari used Fiorano’s irrigation system to keep the track consistently wet for repeatable tests.
- Next up in the programme, Mercedes and McLaren are due to run a two-day Pirelli test at the Nürburgring on April 14–15 with their regular race drivers.
- Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc focused on simulator work in Maranello as the tyre work feeds Pirelli’s longer-term compounds, which reports say include development aimed at 2027 to improve wet-race grip and safety.
