Hamburg Days Resumes Filming as Lea Drinda Replaces Luna Jordan

The ZDF/BBC production has restarted in Hamburg, forcing producers to decide whether to keep or reshoot scenes featuring the late actress.

Overview

  • The production paused after Luna Jordan died suddenly on 13 May and has now resumed principal photography in Hamburg with shoots planned to continue in Munich and Liverpool through late August.
  • Wiedemann & Berg and broadcast partners confirmed that 25-year-old Lea Drinda will take over the role of Astrid Kirchherr that Jordan had been cast to play.
  • Producers have not publicly resolved whether filmed material that features Jordan will be used or will be reshot, leaving legal, ethical and creative questions open.
  • The six-episode series is a ZDF/BBC co-production based partly on Klaus Voormann’s autobiography, led by showrunner Christian Schwochow and featuring an international cast including Asa Butterfield and Jonny Lee Miller.
  • The team said it paused to mourn and process the loss, and the coming weeks will focus on production logistics and a public decision about the existing footage that could affect the schedule and final edit.
