Overview
- Halo: Campaign Evolved launched on Tuesday, July 28, after a five-day Digital Premium Edition early-access window that began on July 23 and is available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
- The game is a ground-up remake built in Unreal Engine 5 with rebuilt environments, cinematics and audio plus three new prequel missions, nine added weapons, new Skulls and a Campaign Remix mode.
- Bungie and Halo Studios omitted traditional PvP multiplayer and instead focused on the campaign with two-player split-screen on consoles, four-player online co-op and full crossplay and cross-progression.
- Launch activity includes multiple free cosmetic drops redeemable through Twitch Drops and Halo Waypoint codes and temporary UK retailer discounts that can stack with cashback offers to sharply reduce the price.
- Early reviews praise the visual overhaul and faithful modernization but players reported gameplay and technical issues such as lethal charged plasma pistol hits, Jackal shield problems and cutscene playback errors, and Halo Support announced a patch due later this week to address these bugs.
