Halo: Campaign Evolved Is a UE5 Remake of Combat Evolved Coming to PS5, Xbox and PC in 2026

The project resets Halo with a campaign-focused rebuild that layers new content onto legacy systems to preserve the series’ feel.

Overview

  • Microsoft and Halo Studios confirmed a campaign-only release with two-player split-screen on consoles and up to four-player online co-op with crossplay and shared progression.
  • Three new prequel missions feature Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, alongside toggleable sprint, aim-down-sights, nine added weapons, vehicle hijacking, and a drivable Covenant Wraith.
  • The remake is rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 with remastered 4K visuals, new cinematics and audio, and returning voice actors recording fresh lines on top of legacy Halo code.
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved will launch day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Play Anywhere support across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
  • Master Chief’s debut on PlayStation marks a broader platform shift, with Halo’s community lead saying the series will be on PlayStation going forward, as early reactions weigh visual style and design changes such as sprint and a reworked Library level.
