Overview
- JR Kyushu installed and lit the display on December 10 at JR Hakata Station, where it will remain through December 25.
- About 200 items found on trains and in the station this summer, delivered to police and left unclaimed, were used as decorations.
- Roughly 20 children from local nurseries joined station employees to decorate a tree about four meters tall with message cards and recovered items.
- The displayed belongings will later be offered to station users who request them under Japan’s lost-property procedures after the three-month claim period.
- The station handles roughly 45,000 lost items each year, and a second tree made from vinyl umbrellas was set up alongside the main display.
